Census Bureau will miss deadline, could endanger Trump’s effort to exclude illegals from redrawing districts

The Census Bureau announced Wednesday that it will miss its deadline on reporting apportionment figures used for the purposes of redrawing electoral districts. It marks the first time in over 40 years that the bureau has missed such a deadline.

“This important process, which has been a part of every decennial census, is critical to produce data that can be used for apportioning seats in the House of Representatives among the states,” the Census Bureau said in a statement. The schedule for reporting this data is not static. Projected dates are fluid.

Perhaps of more urgency, the bureau did not indicate whether the process would be completed before President-elect Joe Biden enters office on Jan. 20, 2021.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Missing the deadline is more than just bureaucratic incompetence; it threatens the nature of our democracy. If the counting is not completed before Biden takes office, illegal aliens will most assuredly be counted in the process of apportionment.

President Trump tried desperately to prevent that from happening. And he seemed to be given a bit of a boost recently. In December the United States Supreme Court dismissed a lawsuit seeking to block Trump’s plan to exclude illegals from the census count.

The president signed the executive order in July stating illegal aliens would no longer be counted in the population numbers for the purposes of redrawing electoral districts. “There used to be a time when you could proudly declare, ‘I am a citizen of the United States.’ But now, the radical left is trying to erase the existence of this concept and conceal the number of illegal aliens in our country,” the president said in a statement at the time.

“This is all part of a broader left-wing effort to erode the rights of Americans citizens, and I will not stand for it,” he added.

Counting Illegals for Purpose of Apportionment is Perversion of Our Democratic Principles

In announcing the original executive order, President Trump stated that “giving congressional representation and political influence to illegal aliens – people who have blatantly disregarded our laws – would be a perversion of our democratic principles.”

He’s correct, and the Census Bureau is aiding and abetting that perversion. Far-left states that accept illegal aliens and offer them sanctuary would be given greater representation in the House.

“Allowing illegal aliens to be counted for the purpose of apportionment could also create perverse incentives – such as potentially rewarding states that encourage violations of Federal immigration law – that would undermine our system of government,” the memorandum reads.

In it, the president vowed to “never allow our democracy to be eroded by giving congressional representation to illegal aliens when the Constitution does not require it.”

“We continue to process the data collected and plan to deliver a complete and accurate state population count for apportionment in early 2021, as close to the statutory deadline as possible,” the Census Bureau said.

Is that good enough? Is every bureau and department in the United States actively working against the American people? It sure seems like it sometimes.
