A drug dealer who had been granted clemency from a life sentence by former president Barack Obama, has landed herself back in prison.

Carol Denise Richardson had originally been given a life sentence after being convicted of conspiracy to possess 50 grams or more of crack cocaine with intent to distribute. Richardson, one of a record number of drug dealers granted clemency under Obama as part of his “justice reform” initiative, was released in July of 2016.

To nobody’s surprise, the soft-on-crime approach backfired, and Richardson was sent back to jail for theft and numerous other violations of her terms of release.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

After a drug dealing conviction, Richardson, who had a lengthy rap sheet, was sentenced to life in prison in June 2006. But she was released from prison last July after Obama commuted her sentence. Obama granted clemency to 1,715 people — many of them drug offenders — during his eight years in office.

On July 28, she was a free woman.

But $60 worth of laundry detergent landed her back in jail in April. She was caught stealing the detergent in Pasadena, Calif. and planned to sell it to buy drugs, her attorney told the Houston Chronicle.

You can already tell where this is going right?

Liberals, who often downplay the seriousness of the actions taken by criminals, are going to claim that Richardson is a victim of a faulty criminal justice system. A poor victim, forced into prison for the minor crime of stealing laundry detergent.

They won’t even acknowledge that any crime committed while a former inmate is on parole is grounds for revocation. They will also ignore the crime that landed her in stir in the first place and the lives she may have already ruined or ended through her trafficking. After all, isn’t that exactly what Obama did when he granted these felons clemency?

For 14 months at least, Richardson will be off those streets and back in prison, where she should have remained in the first place.
