Contender for title of world’s dumbest thief uses stolen credit card for friend’s bail

It’s not an official category here at LU, but occasionally posts honorarily (dishonorarily?) confer the “dumbest crook” title to criminal acts. An example from 2012 is the counterfeiter who tried to pass bills with wrong picture.

Today, with the permission of the editors, I would like to present the “dumbest thief” award to Lakeisha Brisbane (alias Lakeisha Best, Lakeisha Bryant) of Florida for using a stolen credit card to bail a pal out of jail.

Herself an ex-con (she spent 15 months in state prison after being convicted on various fraud charges), the 46-year-old Brisbane attempted to post bail for 21-year-old Shermaine Arnold. You can imagine what happened when she presented the card at the Pinellas County lockup.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

According to The Smoking Gun:

Brisbane … was arrested … on grand theft and credit card fraud charges, both felonies. She was released on $10,000 bond, which was posted by a second Clearwater firm, P-Freddie Dixon Bail Bonds.

Brisbane replaces the previous claimant to the title of dumbest credit card thief held by Mashana Harris, who posed for a photograph in which she appears holding a credit card she stole and used to make $500 in illegal purchases.
