Need evidence that there is trouble in the Windy City? The premise of that question can be borne out in many ways. One is the ever-present specter of gun violence, which reared its ugly head again this past weekend. According to NBC Chicago, 30 were shot, four of them fatally.
Then there is the problem with the city’s leadership. First-time mayor and former Obama adviser Rahm Emanuel is facing a crisis of confidence among minorities, who prefer contender Toni Preckwinkle many times over.
But no problem is more acute than the deplorable state of the public schools in Chicago. Consider the theme of the recently held prom at Paul Robeson High, which was captured on Facebook by veteran investigative ABC reporter Chuck Goudie:
