What would make Democrats happy … aside from canceling Donald Trump’s inauguration?

A somewhat humorous meme that’s making the rounds is a compilation of all the reasons (make that excuses) why Hillary Clinton lost the election. Among the listed items are uneducated voters, racism, the electoral college, rigged machines, fake news,  FBI Director James Comey, and — of course — Russia, which appears twice.

The meme is as much a reflection of the widespread denial among Democrats and liberals as it is anything else. They find it inconceivable that exactly eight years after their coronation of the nation’s first black president, the winds of political will have shifted 180 degrees. Not only does the president-elect promise to undo his predecessor’s efforts to transform the nation into a European-style social democracy, but his other plans — which include repealing the outgoing president’s signature legislative coup — threaten to undermine the Obama legacy.

On top of that, the Dems have gotten themselves all wee-weed up over the certain conviction that a wave of white nationalism will now wash over the land.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

It is understandable that this collective neurosis has persuaded the Democrats in Congress, now in the minority, that nothing short of another election (and another one after that, if needed) will quell their high anxiety.

The Left’s strong distaste for a Trump presidency and all it connotes for them finally culminated yesterday when civil rights icon John Lewis made this outrageous admission that no doubt has been on the tongues of his fellow Donks:

You know, I believe in forgiveness. I believe in trying to work with people. It will be hard. It’s going to be very difficult. I don’t see this president-elect as a legitimate president. [Emphasis added]

Putting aside entirely the fact that the same John Lewis said to Obama’s critics several years back that if they don’t respect the man, they should “at least respect the office,” his refusal to recognize the legitimacy of the incoming administration is borderline treasonous. He should resign his seat in the U.S. House of Representatives Senate immediately.

Yes, Lewis went on to explain his position, stating, “I think the Russians participated in helping this man get elected. And they helped destroy the candidacy of Hillary Clinton,” but I refer you back to the meme noted earlier. If the leaked Podesta emails came to light via the Russians, it was the damning information about Clinton they contained — not the source — that may have discouraged voters from pulling the lever for her. The same goes for any other argument the Dems can conjure up. The Comey letter sank Hillary? No, Hillary destroyed her own campaign by conducting state business using an unsecured email account.

In seven days, Donald Trump will be sworn in as the forty-fifth president of the United States. Whether liberals like it or not, there is no basis for declaring his presidency, or the 2016 presidential election, illegitimate.
