‘Tis the season again, and with the season comes the usual parade of giggly delights from our left-wing friends.
You can set your watch by them. Shortly after a meltdown in the leftosphere over the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving special, in which seating arrangements at a cartoon’s holiday table were invested with more portent than at the Congress of Vienna, Huffington Post put up a video on Thursday decrying the social-justice enormities of the Christmas classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
The holiday TV classic "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer" is seriously problematic. 😳 https://t.co/dOgqPF3bAP

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
“Lately,” intones HuffPo, “viewers are noticing the tale may not be so jolly after all.”
Well, no. It’s a tear-jerker, a cliffhanger, and sometimes a little scary for the youngest viewers. The Abominable is one triggering kind of dude. Santa is all, like, patriarchal and stuff, and Rudolph’s glowing-nose problem isn’t one of those situations that Neil deGrasse Tyson can just solve with snarky science-ish zingers aimed at an army of straw men.
That’s what makes it a good story. Pro-tip: depicting Rudolph’s reindeer world as understanding-deficient and dismissive isn’t meant as an idealization of those qualities. It’s meant to set up a tale of redemption, and gaining of empathy and insight.
It’s kind of gross, as we used to say, that you have to explain that to people.
There’s a sampling of Twitter reactions here.
As the video shows, HuffPo crowd-sourced some of the material for the critique.
Another Twitter user whose tweet was used in the clip claimed the film lacked diversity by tweeting, “Santa’s operation is an HR nightmare and in serious need of diversity and inclusion training.”
Sometimes I can’t tell if the left is setting out with a sly wink to parody itself, or if it really does want to hold a two-minute hate over “Santa berating Donner for his son’s nose.”
Then I see the Washington Post actually going down rat-holes head first in search of ways to incite us against Melania Trump’s red Christmas trees, and I figure I know.
Melania chose red Christmas trees for the White House. In Europe, that’s a bad sign. https://t.co/KSW7q2vAaI
