Mispronouncing ‘Kamala’ is racist: Meet the latest racist

As LU dutifully alerted its readers back in August, mispronouncing Kamala Harris’s first name is an act of abject racism. Never mind that the race you’re insulting is that of India, not African-America — the name, which is Sanskrit, was selected by Harris’s mother, who is Indian-American. It’s still racist to pronounce her name incorrectly. One almost has the sense that the only reason the Democrats — er, Joe Biden (wink, wink) — selected her as his running mate was to have another axe to grind against all the white bigots out there.

The problem with #Namegate turned out to be the speed with which it backfired on the Left. When Harris appeared on “The View,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg introduced her as kuh-MAHL-uh, and plenty of other improbable racists have followed suit.

But the identity of the biggest closet racist turned out to be a surprise that must have shocked even Harris’s mom. As Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson, notes in the video that follows, when Harris made a whistle stop in Cleveland this past week, she  introduced herself as CAMEL-uh. Not COMMA-luh, which she insists is the correct pronunciation, but CAMEL-uh. Watch and see for yourself.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

As Carlson noted after the video, “There are dog whistles and then there are fog horns. That was a fog horn. That was racism and sexism combined in a repulsive peanut butter cup of hate.”

However you pronounce it, the important thing to keep in mind is what kamala means in Finnish,
