Could this be the mother of all gaffes? Before you answer, be aware that the very strange boast Joe Biden makes in this short clip does not appear to be the result of “Joe being Joe” or one of his verbal miscues. He is reading from a prepared script. The halting and tentative manner in which he enunciates the words moreover suggests that he himself can’t believe what it says on the page in front of him.
He says, “We [presumably referring to Barack Obama and him] built the one of the most extensive and inclusive voter fraud organization in the history of American politics.” Watch:
You can almost imagine the conversation that followed this frank admission:
“That didn’t sound right. Can we get a do-over? What? That was live?!”
It is worth noting that there is some truth to this statement in the fractured way in which it is presented. In 2014, the Obama administration hired ACORN as Obamacare navigators despite a congressional ban on giving the organization taxpayer money after it had been charged or convicted of voter registration fraud in some 16 states. It is also strange to hear this claim made on behalf of an administration that fought to quash a lawsuit brought against its IRS for denying tax exemptions to right-leaning PACs.
