Trump trolls the TDS community: Liberal heads explode

If you spend any time on Twitter (yo), you probably have some awareness of the depth and breadth of the hatred for the current president of the United States. You also know that said president is fond of tweeting himself.

This morning in fact, President Trump issued a tweet that riffed on the cover of the October 2018 edition of Time magazine. The cover highlighted a story by contributor Sam Tanenhaus titled “How Trumpism Outlasts Trump.

Time magazine cover, October 2018

The story was in no way intended as a prediction that Trump would win a second term. But that was how the Trump team — tongue planted firmly in cheek — played it now, seven months after the issue appeared, suggesting that Trump would be re-elected not only in 2020 but in 2024, 2028, ad infinitum.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Watch:

The fact the president was having fun with his detractors was totally missed by the liberal side of the blogosphere, which ran bombastic headlines proclaiming “Trump Posts Insane Twitter Video Threatening to Be President For Eternity” and the like.

The one that appeared under the byline of Mediaite Managing Editor Aidan McLaughlin began:

Either President Donald Trump had one too many diet cokes or Dan Scavino had 12 too many lattes this Friday afternoon, because Trump’s official Twitter account just posted a weird and terrifying video threatening to keep presidential power for eternity.

It is possible McLaughlin got the joke since some of the tweets he cites are by conservatives, but others had an equally frantic tone, like this one by CBS News White House reporter Kathryn Watson, who wrote:
