Whoopi Goldberg lashes out at Trump for not placing hand over heart during nat’l anthem

How upset is Whoopi Goldberg that Donald Trump is the president? So much that she can’t bring herself to say his name. On Monday’s episode of ABC’s “The View,” Goldberg aired her contempt for “the new guy” (as she calls him) for, among other things, neglecting to place his hand over his heart during the singing of the national anthem.

Goldberg received cheers and a round of enthusiastic applause from the studio audience when she said, “I’m glad she knew enough to poke his ass to put his hand over his heart” — a reference to a widely circulated that shows First Lady Melania Trump nudging her husband.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

But Goldberg really brought down the house when she added, “I don’t know any adult” who isn’t aware of proper protocol during the performance of the national anthem. The claim comes at around 1:02 in the video that follows:

Goldberg is forgetting that she once occupied a stage with another adult who either ignored or bucked protocol by keeping his hands folded in front of him while the anthem was being played. Here’s a visual reminder:

The U.S. President refuses to place his hand over his heart during the playing of the National Anthem.
