Sequester pain promises the first Obama intends to keep

ObamaWho cares if the stimulus bill failed to keep unemployment under 8% or that health insurance premiums are up despite the enactment of Obamacare into law.

President Barack Hussein Obama promised that the sequester would eliminate assistance to producers in 24 states in managing wildlife damage to the aquaculture industry, unless they provide funding to cover the costs, and you can take that promise to the bank (presumably including one that taxpayers bailed out in 2008 so that President Obama could claim he saved America from the “abyss” after he was inaugurated in 2009):

In the email sent [to Obama Administration officials] Monday by Charles Brown, an official with the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service office in Raleigh, N.C., Mr. Brown asked ‘if there was any latitude’ in how to spread the sequester cuts across the region to lessen the impacts on fish inspections.

He said he was discouraged by officials in Washington, who gave him this reply: ‘We have gone on record with a notification to Congress and whoever else that “APHIS would eliminate assistance to producers in 24 states in managing wildlife damage to the aquaculture industry, unless they provide funding to cover the costs.” So it is our opinion that however you manage that reduction, you need to make sure you are not contradicting what we said the impact would be.’

Not sure if Rev. Jeremiah Wright recently met for with his former parishioner of 20 years for Deep Prayer at Bob Woodward’s parking garage in Arlington, Virginia; but suddenly, despite his re-election as a serial liar, President Obama has apparently found “bear no false witness” religion when it comes to promised pain from sequester budget (less than 3%) cuts, even if they fall short of a “cliff” and are more like a “tumble downward”, in his words.

It appears that unemployment, health care costs and maintaining employer-provided health insurance promises can be broken with impunity even if one’s fall is as from a cliff; because after all, President Bush, ATMs and tsunamis are to blame for those calamities, none of which are on the ballot in 2014.

But 435 members of the House, a majority of whom are Republicans that refuse to raise taxes on the rich again and again are on the 2014 ballot, where Obama seeks to replace them with a majority of Democrats that will aid in the keeping of one non-sequester promise he made in 2008, i.e. to fundamentally transform America.

In a post-sequester America, most would be better off if the President were proven a liar more often.
