Did you hear the one about the 69-year-old Akron man who ranted up a storm about a Trump presidency before dousing himself with gasoline and lighting it? There’s nothing the least bit funny about this incident reported by the Akron Beacon Journal, but I expect liberals to bust a gut laughing over it.
That’s what they did four years ago when a 64-year-old resident of Key West, Fla., overdosed on prescription pills after Barack Obama won a second term. The man, named Henry Hamilton, had threatened prior to the election that “if Barack gets reelected, I’m not going to be around.” Two days after the election, he made good on his threat.
That wasn’t funny either, but it didn’t “comedian” Bill Maher from using the man’s suicide as a jumping-off point for a light-hearted panel discussion of whether “Republicans are bad losers.” During the discussion, Maher nonchalantly recounted the details of Hamilton’s death, then noted that the man had taken an an overdose of Xanax. “By the way,” Maher added, grinning, if you’re watching Sean Hannity, that’s Xanax: X-A-N-A-X.”
Maher wasn’t the only liberal to get a laugh out the tragedy. Here are some of the comments following a post about the sucicide by Mediaite’s Andrew Kirell:
And the average IQ in his town went up a few points. Those who think what he did was in any way correct or respectable should follow his example.
What a feckin’ loon…
All repukes need to follow this guy’s example
One less turd in the fishbowl.
And nothing of value was lost.
In case — unlike these paragons of tolerance, respect, and inclusiveness — you are concerned about the welfare of the attempted suicide Saturday, the man was taken to Akron Children’s Hospital with severe burns. Updates will be added as new information becomes available.
