Steve Harvey may have made one of the more embarrassing on-air gaffes of 2015 when he announced on Dec. 20 that Miss Colombia had won the Miss Universe only to realize minutes later — no doubt to his horror — that he had read out the wrong name.
Ariadna Gutierrez Arevalo, the Colombian candidate, was actually first runner-up to the real winner, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, who represented the Philippines.
Harvey didn’t help his case much when he took to Twitter to offer his heartfelt apology to “Miss Philippians [sic] and Miss Columbia [sic],” both misspellings since corrected:
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
I'd like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia & Miss Philippines for my huge mistake. I feel terrible.

But it was another tweet, this one self-deprecating, that should help the comedian’s critics forgive and forget. The three-word message was sent out on Dec. 25. It read:
Merry Easter y’all! ??? pic.twitter.com/Z6Xjj5Ehqg
