Fort Drum soldiers deployed to Afghanistan perform ‘Jingle Bell Rock’

A little holiday music to lift your spirits, and perhaps a humbling performance to make us think about our men and women in the armed forces this Christmas.

A group of soldiers deployed to Afghanistan have put together a band and are spreading some holiday cheer from thousands of miles away.

Via the Watertown Daily Times:

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Soldiers from the 10th Mountain Division band based at Fort Drum put together a short cover of “Jingle Bell Rock” just in time for the holiday season.

[…]

Currently, approximately 4,300 10th Mountain Division soldiers from Fort Drum and Fort Polk, La., are deployed in Afghanistan, Iraq and Korea.

“Jingle Bell Rock” was first released by Bobby Helms in 1957 and was most recently covered by country stars Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert in 2012.

Check out the soldiers’s rendition below.

I now challenge you to go about the rest of your day without humming the tune in your head.

Excellent performance, Fort Drum soldiers – stay safe, and Merry Christmas.
