Self-avowed populist Hillary Clinton is going on vacation: Wait till you hear the particulars

Hillary Clinton, the candidate representing “everyday Americans,” is taking a break from the rigors of the campaign trail (which recently have begun to include beatings from the press) for a little r&r. So where is our middle class hero planning to unwind?

Here are the specifics via Time:

Clinton will spend her upcoming break from the campaign trail at a $50,000-per-week beachfront rental in the Hamptons along with Bill Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, her son-in-law Marc Mezvinsky, and her new granddaughter, Charlotte. The four-bedroom Amagansett mansion, which Clinton is renting for the second consecutive year from Republican donor Andre Nasser and his wife Lois, features a 50 ft pool and a private beach. The two week rental will cost the Clintons nearly twice the U.S.’ median household income ($51,939, as of September 2014).

The Daily Mail has some spectacular photos of the vacation spot.

The announcement comes on the heels of an ad released yesterday that reprises her platform on “reshuffling the deck” for the middle class.

The ad, which appears below talks, embraces a familiar theme from the last two presidential terms. “Reshuffling the deck” is nothing more than a euphemism for “redistributing wealth.”

Via Politico:

“When you see that you’ve got CEOs making 300 times what the average worker’s making, you know, the deck is stacked in favor of those at the top. I want it to be back where it was when I came of age, where my mom, who never got to go to college, could see her daughter go to law school,” she says in the ad, as images of a younger Clinton with her parents and graduating from school flash across the screen.

The video also features the candidate meeting and posing with people who appear to represent what she has previously termed “everyday Americans.”

“We need to have people believing that their work will be rewarded. So I’m going to do everything I can to try to get that deck reshuffled so being middle-class means something again,” Clinton says.
