In a “feel good” story, a Mullah imam of a mosque in the Paktika province of Afghanistan accidentally blew himself up with his own explosives. The blast also claimed the life of his mother, who, according to Khaama Press, was accompanying him on his motorcycle. The pair was traveling to the home relatives when the bomb he was carrying ignited.
The dead preacher has been identified as Mawlavi Shurhratullah. Local officials maintain that the cleric had links with the Taliban and had a hand in major roadside bombings.
The Taliban has rejected that claim and said the Mawlavi was killed in airstrike by coalition forces.
