Israeli Double Standard Time

Israeli Double Standard Time

Israeli Double Standard Time is a phrase created by blogger Meryl Yourish to describe the unbelievable double standards for Israel and the rest of the world. You can see it in the current media frenzy over Palestinian deaths in Gaza. Compare this to the ongoing deaths in Syria, Iraq, Nigeria, Afghanistan–well, you get the idea.

The UN Security Council is releasing a statement calling for a cease-fire in Gaza for Eid al-Fitr, one of the biggest deals of all Muslim holidays.

The Security Council statement, drafted by Jordan, “urged all parties to accept and fully implement the humanitarian ceasefire into the Eid period and beyond” and “calls on parties to engage in efforts to achieve a durable and fully respected ceasefire, based on the Egyptian initiative.”

You know where they’re not calling for a cease-fire for Eid? Any other Muslim nation currently at war (see above).

The war in Syria has been going on for three and a half years and counting, and has had over 170,000 civilian deaths. Apparently, this is completely unimportant to the U.N., because Palestinians have been killed in Gaza this year.

Israeli Double Standard Time: It occurs on any day that ends in a “y.”
