Tea Party favorite Claudia Tenney endorsed by Rick Santorum

Former Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum has endorsed Tea Party candidate Claudia Tenney in New York’s 22nd congressional district over GOP establishment opponent, Richard Hanna.

The Citizens United Political Victory Fund issued the following press release this morning:

Citizens United Political Victory Fund (CUPVF), the affiliated PAC of Citizens United, announced that Senator Rick Santorum will be contacting 50,000 Republican households in New York supporting conservative Claudia Tenney who is running in New York’s 22nd Congressional District’s Republican Primary which is being held on June 24th.

Here is the message Santorum will be sending out to those 50,000 potential voters:

Tenney has been battling an onslaught of “false flag” super PAC ads that deceptively portray her as the more liberal candidate and incumbent Hanna as more conservative. In fact, the opposite is true.

Telling the truth is a difficult concept for the Hanna campaign however, as they demonstrated yesterday with this outright false statement on Twitter:

Tenney voted no on the SAFE Act. Using Hanna’s rhetoric, everyone who voted against the SAFE Act “let” it pass.

The blatant distortion of reality led Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin to respond by calling Hanna a “liar” and a “coward.”

The fact that Super PACs are spending up to a million dollars to run dishonest ads and that Hanna is himself tweeting out easily dismissed lies indicates that the GOP establishment is concerned with this race. With no Democrat running, the winner of Tuesday’s primary will likely move on to Congress.

Tenney is the only choice for conservatives in this race, which is why she’s been garnering a wave of support from conservatives such as Sean Hannity, Michelle Malkin, Erick Erickson, and now Rick Santorum.
