Watch the U.S./world population grow before your eyes

This is actually pretty cool. It’s reminiscent of the infamous national debt clock, which has risen dramatically under Obama’s watch, but it’s something beyond the control of kinds and counselors. It’s a population clock for the U.S. and the world, and it is fascinating to watch.

Created by the U.S. Census Bureau, it reveals that locally (in the U.S., that is), there is one birth every 8 seconds, one death every 12, and 1 international migration every 40, working out to a net gain of one new American every 16 seconds.

On the global side, the population rises much more quickly, China’s puny incursions into the numbers notwithstanding.
