Image of the Day: That’s Bill de Blasio’s sister holding up that obscene hate message

Love and hate, scientists tell us, are so close that the emotions are almost one and the same.

If you want a graphic sense of just how close they are, take a look at the photograph below. The pixellated sign being held up by the woman on the left contains the F-bomb and is directed at whiteness. Not two feet away from her is a second woman holding up a sign celebrating love.

The three people in the picture all have connections to people high places. The Daily Mail identifies the man and woman on the right as the parents of New York Mayor Bill de Blasio. The gal on the left is their daughter and the mayor’s sister Victoria.

The family portrait shot at a pro-immigration rally on was shared for some reason on Facebook by Lincoln Restler, one of the mayor’s senior policy advisers. Restler is now taking heat for publicizing the image.

City Hall tried to ratchet down the controversy by explaining that Victoria was protesting white supremacy, not white people of which she is one. The administration admitted the sign was “inartful.”
