We really need to expand our list of blog-content categories to include one for “Surreal Idiocy.”
Some of you know (especially if you’re in-circle with your LU Football Commentary Service) that Louisiana State University’s football team, ranked Number 2 in the nation, is in Tuscaloosa today to play the University of Alabama Crimson Tide, ranked Number 4. (The game’s about to start as I’m typing this.)
Some class-free dumpster people in Tuscaloosa hung a banner to encourage the Tide to roll on to victory.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

I doubt the average LSU Tiger fan (or any other variety of Louisiana’s finest) much cares about the temerity these benighted opposing fans were showing, with their unseemly message.
But fortunately, there’s the indignation-troll army of social media to take up the slack for them.
@OldRowOfficial You're praising this? And 803 people liked it? Y'all. Death isn't funny.

@OldRowOfficial Are they really ones to joke after the massive tornado that thrashed Tuscaloosa just a few years ago?

It goes on and on. U. of A duly responded.
UA is appalled that anyone would display a banner with such an inappropriate and offensive statement. (1 of 2)

It’s our understanding that the banner was hung at an off-campus apartment complex and it has been removed. (2 of 2)

So there. Back when the stupid hijinks of youth showed up mainly on grimy police blotters and in the stories of old men, there was something mildly amusing about them. It’s just not quite the same today, when they leave a trail of vaporish concern-trolls thrashing around on social media in a ritual huff. It’s more like the worms on the driveway after a rain than the memory of something admittedly dumb, and — give me a break — meaningless; but a bit fun and naughty at the time.
