Now, Dems want King Obamacare to delay mandate, illegally

crown-mdOffered no less than two chances to delay Obamacare’s individual mandate earlier this month, not one Democrat in the United States Senate refused to honor Majority Leader Harry Reid’s motions to table those delays during the government shutdown.

Yet, now that the debt limit has been raised and Big Government is back in full swing, legally; elected Democrat lawmakers revert to their apparently preferred role of granting their lawmaking power to Chief Executive Barack Obama.

Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), who is up for re-election in 2014, wrote to Obama on Tuesday and asked him to delay the enrollment deadline for the individual mandate. “Given the existing problems with the website, I urge you to consider extending open enrollment beyond the current end date of March 31, 2014,” Shaheen wrote to the president. “Allowing extra time for consumers is critically important so they have the opportunity to become familiar with the website, survey their options and enroll.”

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), went further:

Every glitch, premium and deductible increase, job not created, full-timer reduced to part-time or worse, were all obvious consequences that EVERY Democratic party senator voted for when they passed the law via legislative subterfuge in 2009-10. And all predicted, by Republicans; a majority of whom in the House, despite having been returned to power there by tea partiers opposed to Obamacare, voted to fully fund Democrats’ dream law every year, including this year despite the efforts of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).

Democrats had opportunities to delay the individual mandate tax/penalty for not buying a policy from Healthcare.gov, albeit via the legal process, but chose to punt, confident that Republicans would eventually cave and surrender. Now, members of Congress who, along with their and the White House’s staff, received an exemption from the individual mandate, via executive fiat, much as their Big Business campaign financiers were granted a delay of the employer mandate at President Obama’s hands; now seem to prefer a pre-Revolution role as bowing and curtsying Barons and Baronettes begging for noblesse oblige from Royalty.

The Rule of Law that made America’s self-government revolution historic and exceptional, is dead at Democrats’ hands.
