Spokane NBC affiliate station KHQ reports that the second suspect in the beating death of a World War II veteran last Wednesday is in custody this morning (h/t Jammie Wearing Fools):

Kenan Adams-Kinard, 16, the suspect in the robbery and murder of 88-year-old, WWII veteran, Delbert Belton, was arrested just after 3am Monday morning in a basement apartment at 500 W. Montgomery in Spokane without incident.

Good investigative work and follow up on dozens of tips led to the apprehension of the suspect 4 days after the initial incident.

Adams-Kinard was arrested on a 1st degree robbery and 1st degree murder warrant.

Several other people with him have been arrested for rendering criminal assistance.

Last week, on 8/23 Spokane Police arrested the first of the suspects, a 16-year-old male, charged with 1st degree robbery and 1st degree murder.

Chief Straub will hold a news conference later today.

That’s Spokane Police Chief Frank Straub, who, as Renee Ral wrote on Saturday, has already ruled out racial animus as a motive for the horrific crime. How the chief was able to arrive at that conclusion prior to interviewing both suspects, one of whom was still on the lam, suggests he had may have been home sick from the academy on the day when they taught crime detection.

That both suspects had a history of criminal violence is beyond speculation. As LU reported Sunday. Demetrius Glenn, who was arrested on Friday, had been charged on previous run-ins with the law with “malicious mischief, third and fourth degree assault, and driving without a license, and use of a deadly weapon” during a riot. Glenn dropped out of high school in February.

Adams-Kinard had been arrested on third-degree theft and fourth-degree assault. His most recent conviction for those felonies was on June 24.
