Halloween is still nearly a full month off, but a team of health workers in Monrovia, Liberia, got a bit of a fright when a man who presumably had died of Ebola began to stir inside his body bag. ABC correspondent Richard Besser was on hand observing a “burial team” collecting corpses when the odd incident occurred. They doused the victim’s body with bleach, a routine precaution, then began transferring it to a body bag when one of the man’s hand moved.
Residents later told Besser they had spent days seeking help for the man as he lay suffering on the road but to no avail. The burial team arrived within an hour of the man’s reported death. “They only come when you die,” one community leader told the news crew.
