Driver consumed by road rage fires shot, hits two-year-old

There are so many things wrong about this story it’s hard to know where to begin. For starters, what kind of person vents his road rage by firing a gun at the vehicle whose driver offended him?

The answer to that question is 33-year old Javon Johnson, shown above. Johnson, who has been charged with attempted murder, assault, and various handgun-related charges, apparently blocked a line of cars behind him on Saturday when he failed to budge after the light changed.

According to ABC News, the driver of the vehicle behind Johnson’s sounded his horn several times before changing lanes and making a right during the green light cycle.

It’s believed the suspect, driving a silver Mazda MPV, followed the victim and fired from his vehicle into the victim’s car, [Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael] Harrison said.

Johnson proceeded to fire off a round into the victim’s car before driving off. The bullet struck a 2-year-old, who had been in the car with his family. The child was taken to a hospital in “somewhat stable condition” and is expected to survive.

Police managed to apprehend Johnson after posting a reward for information leading to his arrest. He has been charged with attempted murder, assault, and various handgun related charges.

Of Johnson’s actions, which Commissioner Harrison  calls “cowardly” and “violent,” he said, “You shot a child. Whoever you thought you were shooting at, you didn’t shoot,”
