Another Noncitizen, With Lengthy Criminal Record, Is Arrested For Voting In US Elections

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested a Bahamian national in Georgia who allegedly voted illegally in the 2020 election, according to documents obtained by the Daily Caller.

On Sept. 3, ICE and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Atlanta arrested Anthony Tyrone Higgs, a Bahamian national, in Decatur, Georgia.

Higgs’ criminal history includes convictions for two counts of grand larceny, armed robbery with a deadly weapon, two counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime, assault on a police officer, criminal domestic violence, and resisting arrest. HSI Atlanta also confirmed in August 2026 that Higgs had illegally voted in the 2020 election.

Higgs remains in the custody of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO).

When asked about Higgs’ removal, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Markwayne Mullin wrote to the Caller, “This criminal alien from the Bahamas has a rap sheet for multiple violent crimes, including armed robbery, domestic violence, and assault on a police officer.”

“On top of all of that, he illegally voted in the 2020 election. If even one non-citizen votes in our elections, it cancels out the vote of an American citizen. Thanks to the hard work of the men and women of ICE, this criminal will be removed from our country and can never interfere in our elections again.”

Higgs was admitted to the United States as a Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) in October 1976. DHS has placed him in removal proceedings to take away his LPR status due to his crimes.

In July, Mullin sent letters to secretaries of state in several states regarding noncitizens who are registered to vote.

That same month, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that grant recipients would be required to take several actions related to election security.

In June, DHS directed ICE to enforce stricter penalties for noncitizens who illegally vote in American elections, including deportation.

On Sept. 1, ICE and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) officers also arrested Mariana Alexandra Dewey, a Peruvian national, for allegedly misrepresenting herself as a U.S. citizen while voting in the 2024 general election in Kansas, the Caller reported exclusively. Dewey was charged with one count of false claim of citizenship, one count of false claim of U.S. citizenship in order to vote, one count of fraudulent election conduct, and one count of voting by an alien in a federal election.
