“The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign hosted an all-ages drag tea party at its publicly funded Spurlock Museum during Pride Month, inviting families to attend performances by drag entertainers while encouraging participants to wear Pride-inspired attire,” reports Campus Reform:

The June 28 event, titled “Tea with the King & Queen,” featured drag performers Spank Knightly and Herra Winn….Admission cost $30 and included “the drag show, unlimited beverages and assorted sweet treats, an educational presentation on British tea culture, and private access and guided tours of the museum while closed to the public.”

The university described the event as an opportunity to “Enjoy tea, lemonade, sweet treats, British tea culture education, drag performances, and private guided museum tours, all celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride.”

The event description also encouraged participation by children and families, stating: “All ages are encouraged for this program, so bring the whole family for a fun, educational, and pride-filled afternoon!”…

Many colleges and universities have hosted family-targeting and all-ages drag shows….Similar events have taken place at Binghamton University in October and Napa Valley College in December.

Other colleges have offered courses such as “Queering God.” Progressive divinity schools have proclaimed that Jesus was “queer,” and have attacked marriage, capitalism, and monogamy. Cornell University offers the class “Queer Marxism.”

Wellesley College offered a “Queer Bible” course as part of its Jewish Studies program. It provided an “introduction to the Bible at the intersection of queer theory” and “biblical interpretation.”

Law school lecturers in London recently received a grant to hold a “queerathon” and promote “queer theory” in the law.

At Saint Mary’s University in London, a researcher is working to inject “trans theory” into the study of international relations.
