Joe Biden is no stranger to verbal gaffes. He is usually good for one or two flubs a speech. Often these miscues arise out his seeming tendency to deliver prepared remarks by rote, without bothering to learn the meaning or intent of the words his puppeteers have coming out of his mouth.
Thursday was no exception. Biden and Kamala Harris were meeting at the White House with the leadership of two groups — the National Council of Asian Pacific Americans (NCAPA) and the Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (AANHPI). Instead of providing the president with the names written out, his handlers provided him the acronyms, which he read aloud with all the confidence of a patient with seriously impaired vision struggling to make out the eye chart at an ophthalmologist’s office.
His performance is captured in the both the video below and the transcript, which follows:
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
… a pandemic, the AH, the AANINH and PI community — I stumbled over myself here.
Three and one half years to go!
