Mayor Pete — make that “Secretary Pete” — has taken a page out of Swedish teen climate activist Greta Thunberg’s playbook. When St. Greta made her first trip to the U.S. in 2019, it was via a 60-foot racing yacht, which emitted zero carbon molecules. Unfortunately, the same couldn’t be said for the passenger jet the boat’s return-trip crew were required to take to New York. On Thursday, Buttigieg, to promote his green credentials, arrived via pedal power at the White House for the first Biden cabinet meeting. The only problem was that the bike trip didn’t begin at the Department of Transportation three miles away but from a location more that was more like three blocks away. News cameras captured video of Buttigieg’s security detail unloading the bike from the back of a gas-guzzling SUV a short distance from the executive mansion.
