Biden debuts his new persona for dealing with troublesome media questions: Meet Mr. Snide

Joe Biden has already made it clear that he doesn’t like tricky (read: “real”) questions from the media. This became clear early on when Bo Erickson of CBS News had the audacity to ask then-candidate Biden whether he would support the CDC rather than the teacher’s union on closing schools. Biden became testy, snapping back, “Why are you the only guy that always shouts out questions?” (RELATED: Apparently ‘Which flavor of ice cream did you get’ WILL BE the kind of questions Biden is asked)

But apparently “testy” is only one of the flavors of response the commander-in-chief intends to serve up to reporters who ask “tough” questions. An exchange with Fox News reporter Peter Doocy yesterday revealed another flavor: “snide.”

The precipitating factor was Biden’s first phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which had taken place earlier. Doocy asked what the two had talked about. You can watch Biden’s answer below.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

It was a legitimate question about his first foray into relations with one of the nation’s most fearsome adversaries. It deserved a legitimate answer.

Note that some of the other journalists present snickered appreciatively, even though the expression on Biden’s face revealed he was not going for comedy. Clearly they are deluding themselves if they think he is going to be any more forthcoming or charitable when it is their turn.

In the meantime, an earlier clip from the same day reveals Biden grappling with another fearsome adversary: clothing. (RELATED: Joe Biden does battle with a teleprompter. Spoiler alert: The teleprompter wins)
