Stop the presses! CNN, which refused to carry Pres. Donald Trump’s full coronavirus briefings (a decision the network’s media critic Eric Wemple responded to with a very grownup “Yay!”), devoted air time to a report that Champ and Major Biden have moved into the White House. There is no word in the newsbreak as to the whether the cat that the Bidens announced would also take up residence in the presidential mansion, had arrived.

Should you doubt the importance of this story, the Biden dogs have figures prominently in news stories since the election. In early December, Joe Biden fractured his foot as he was “walking through this little alleyway” in house and tossed a ball to one of the dogs, which led to his tripping on a throw rug. Biden concluded his retelling of these events with the observation, “Oh man, not a very exciting story.”

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

It’s not as though there aren’t critical daily changing events for a news network to report. Today, for example, the House Democratic impeachment managers will deliver their lone article of impeachment against former President Trump to the Senate.

CNN, by the way, is not the only left-leaning news outlet obsessed with Biden “personal interest” stories. At her first press conference as a surrogate for the new president, Press Secretary Jen Psaki was asked by one reporter whether Biden planned to keep Donald Trump’s color scheme for Air Force One.

Inquiring minds and all that.
