N.J. Gov. Phil Murphy confronted over maskless family dinner at restaurant
New jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) of New Jersey, who appointed the state attorney general.

I’d like to preface this by noting that I found it appalling when prominent Republicans were harassed while dining in public by liberal protesters back in 2018. (RELATED: Black Republican Candace Owens harassed by white protesters while having breakfast) It was my belief also that Rep. Maxine Waters should have been arrested for egging on her constituents, urging them to get in the face of members of the Trump administration out for a meal.

And while I don’t openly condone the behavior of those who surrounded and hurled insults at New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) and his family at a restaurant over the weekend, I have nothing but contempt for Democrats who attempt to draw parallels between the protests now and then.

Last week Murphy announced that he isn’t ruling out another statewide shutdown due to a rise in COVID-19 cases and deaths in the Garden State. He has already imposed a ten o’clock curfew on restaurants and bars and threatened even more stringent rules to follow. So how does he justify repairing to a local restaurant with what appears to be his extended family for a dinner with wine?

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Breaking 911 tweeted out a video of the proceedings shot by one of the angry demonstrators.

Murphy’s family outing comes on the heels of another highly visible public dinner at an expensive California restaurant attended by Gov. Gavin Newsom. Newsom at least went through the motions of admitting his actions were wrong and apologizing for them. But Murphy has made no such gesture.

If Democrats in high office want to impress on their fellow Americans the importance of following guidelines set by the CDC and other national health authorities, they should make it a priority to lead by example.
