After Nancy Pelosi’s childish and vindictive destruction of the president’s State of the Union address on national television, the White House delivered what would have been a stinging rebuke if the recipient had been an adult:
Speaker Pelosi just ripped up:
One of our last surviving Tuskegee Airmen.
The survival of a child born at 21 weeks.
The mourning families of Rocky Jones and Kayla Mueller.
A service member's reunion with his family.
That's her legacy.

Pelosi went on to claim that the speech was a “manifesto” of lies, adding that was why she tore up her copy. This led some to ask what the speech would have needed to say to win the speaker’s approval. The answer is that no speech given by Donald Trump would have suffered a less indignant fate. As the Daily Caller asserts, Pelosi had already pre-ripped pages of the SOTU address before the conclusion of the speech to make them easier to shred at the end.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Any debate about whether the House Speaker’s decision was premeditated or done in the heat of the moment seemed settled after Red State editor Brandon Morse posted a video of Pelosi “testing to see if she could rip the speech before the speech even started.” (RELATED: MSNBC Analyst: After Acquittal, ‘No President’ Was Ever ‘As Powerful As Donald John Trump In This Hour’)

Knowing that this was planned makes it an even more petulant gesture — one beneath a person who holds the title of House Speaker. (RELATED: Nancy Pelosi should resign)
Welcome to the new normal for the post-impeachment Democrats.
