12-year-old Kansas girl hauled out of school in handcuffs for making gun with her forefinger

I haven’t come across one of these idiotic tales in some time, but here’s a fresh one as a dual reminder of (1) how out of control the Left has become on the subject of guns and (2) the abusive zero-tolerance policies that have become commonplace in the nation’s public schools.

The Kansas City Star has the embarrassing particulars:

A 12-year-old Overland Park girl formed a gun with her fingers, pointed at four of her Westridge Middle School classmates one at a time, and then turned the pretend weapon toward herself.

Police hauled her out of school in handcuffs, arrested her and charged the child with a felony for threatening.

Shawnee Mission school officials said they could not discuss the case, citing privacy laws, but did say it wasn’t the district that arrested the child.

Who cares who made the “collar”? It wouldn’t matter if the arresting officer worked for the district, the city, or state. The trauma that person inflicted on this child is sure to remain a nightmare for years to come.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

One person who spoke to paper on condition of anonymity “said that during a class discussion, another student asked the girl, if she could kill five people in the class, who would they be? In response, the girl allegedly pointed her finger pistol — like the ones many children use playing cops and robbers.” So why isn’t the child who initiated the subject also under arrest for her murderous thoughts. But wait, let’s not give the district ideas.

As for the child involved, she appeared in Johnson County District Court on Sept. 18, where she was charged with having “unlawfully and feloniously communicated a threat to commit violence, with the intent to place another, in fear, or with the intent to cause the evacuation, lock down or disruption in regular, ongoing activities.”

This is a lose-lose situation if ever there was one.
