If there’s one thing Democrats really stink at (and, yes, I know) it’s making excuses for members of their party who screw up. When “Squad” member Ilham Omar was under fire in March for conspicuously anti-Semtic comments, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi attempted to rationalize the ugly remarks by positing:
I don’t think our colleague is anti-Semitic. I think she has a different experience in the use of words, doesn’t understand that some of them are fraught with meaning, that she didn’t realize.
Now it’s former Vice President Joe Biden’s turn to face the music for his utterly ridiculous “war story,” which was so full of holes that even the Washington Post was compelled to acknowledge:
In the space of three minutes, Biden got the time period, the location, the heroic act, the type of medal, the military branch and the rank of the recipient wrong, as well as his own role in the ceremony.
This time it was former DNC Chairwoman Donna Brazile who leaped to Biden’s defense. Brazile, who has herself been at the center of a scandal for having shared in advance debate questions with Hillary Clinton in 2016, pleaded her case for Biden while on Fox News, which for some reason hired her as contributor earlier this year.
Let’s not attribute this gaffe to age,” Brazile proposed to fellow panelists on the network’s “The Five.” “There are a lot of people who are older than Joe Biden who still got it going on. Sometimes when you have a lot of information in your brain and you try to put it out [sic] your mouth, it comes across like, you are juggling the story.”
But isn’t that precisely the definition of dementia?
