It’s becoming quite clear that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez isn’t just a socialist; she’s a purveyor of left-wing anarchism. And it’s apparent she won’t stop until America is a lawless nation.
Ocasio-Cortez, in an interview last week with New Yorker Radio, said she is longer setting her sites on abolishing just ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement). She is now intent on abolishing the entire Department of Homeland Security.
“ICE is not under the (Department of Justice),” Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) explained. “It’s under the Department of Homeland Security. And so we have now – ”
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Host David Remnick interrupted, asking “Would you get rid of the Department of Homeland Security, too?”
“I think so,” she responded without thinking. “I think we need to undo a lot of the egregious, umm, a lot of the egregious mistakes that the Bush administration did.”

You have to love how her solution for addressing the flaws of every department is simply to abolish its existence. When she’s at home using her garbage disposal and it breaks, does she just get rid of the entire counter and sink it’s attached to?
“I feel like we are, at a very, it’s a very qualified and supported position, at least in terms of evidence, and in terms of being able to make the argument that we never should have created DHS in the early 2000s,” she added.
Do We Need DHS?
DHS is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the United States from both manmade and natural disasters. Janet Napolitano, Obama’s Secretary of Homeland Security, sure believed the department was crucial, writing:
The purpose of our Department is unambiguous: we must guard against terrorism; we must secure our borders; we must enforce our immigration laws; we must improve our readiness for, response to, and recovery from disasters; and we must unify the Department so that we can even more effectively carry out our mission.
Jeh Johnson, a DHS Secretary under Obama, has been a rare voice of reason in arguing for the need to secure our nation’s borders, calling the Democrats’ push for open borders “unworkable and unwise.”
DHS also consists of the Transportation Safety Administration, Secret Service, Coast Guard, and Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Now, AOC is determined to just wipe out the whole thing.
She’s Not Alone
Ocasio-Cortez isn’t the only ill-informed freshman member of Congress to argue against the need for ICE or DHS.
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) argued on behalf of defunding the entire outfit because of President Trump’s “hateful” wall.

Rep. Lauren Underwood (D-Ill.) actually accused the Trump administration and Acting DHS Secretary Kevin McAleenan of intentionally murdering illegal alien children. It was a comment so egregious, it drew an immediate rebuke and was stricken from the record.
Ocasio-Cortez jumping into the fray is no surprise. As we stated, she would rather see our nation’s laws dismantled top to bottom without wasting a thought on who would then run the streets.
