If Trump is to blame for drowning migrant father and child, does he get credit for the many rescues made on his watch?

Within hours if not minutes of the Associated Press’s release last Wednesday of a horrifying photo of a dead migrant father and his 23-month-old daughter laying face down in shallow water along the bank of the Rio Grande, every liberal and his pet bull dog was blaming Donald Trump for the tragedy.

The photo became instant red meat for presidential hopefuls, including Beto O’Rourke and Joe Biden, who wasted no time tweeting out their j’accuses. O’Rourke chose to make his tweet a no-frills point blank accusation, whereas Biden chose to lay it on thick.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

There is a particular irony to Biden’s damning of Trump, which I’ll return to presently. For now, suffice it to say that last week, another young migrant, this time a 13-year-old male, found himself in trouble as he tried to negotiate the currents of the Rio Grande near Eagle Pass, Texas. His story, however, had a happy ending. Members of the Border Patrol heroically fished the boy from the drink and administered CPR, ultimately succeeding in saving his life. Watch:

But this story is just the tip of the iceberg that the mainstream media have largely ignored. According to the Daily Caller News Foundation:

Border Patrol agents rescued 2,744 people this fiscal year to date. This marks a sharp increase from the entirety of fiscal year 2018, where 2,285 people were rescued, according to a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) spokesperson.

The increase in the number of rescues stands in direct correlation to the number of illegal aliens who have attempted to enter the U.S. at points other than ports of entry.

Somehow these stories of life-saving heroics have escaped the attention of the AP, maybe because they don’t fit the required narrative that Trump is pure evil.

Speaking of which, if Biden wants to cast stones over the deaths of migrants on a president’s watch, perhaps he’d like to answer for the hundreds of migrants who died during his boss’s administration. In one Texas county alone — Brooks County — 535 migrants died, according to Breitbart.
