Eschewing any sense of decorum or professionalism, Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-OH) thought she was being clever by reading a letter on the House floor from a constituent that described supporters of President Trump as “racist” or “just plain dumb.”
Fudge addressed her colleagues during the House “morning hour,” a period of time each Monday and Tuesday when members are allowed to give five-minute speeches on the topic of their choice.
The congresswoman opted to read a letter from Rev. Ronald Williams, founder and senior pastor of Mount Zion Fellowship Church in the village of Highland Hills, Ohio.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Oddly enough, the pastor in his letter, aside from denigrating every one of Trump’s supporters as racist or ignorant, also criticizes them for being … religious?
“‘Many who support the president’s administration are either racists, steeped in religious beliefs, ignorant, or as my mother used to say, just plain dumb,’” Fudge read aloud.

How she wasn’t gaveled out of order the second she said those words is anybody’s guess.
Fudge continued, blasting all Americans through Williams’ words as declining morally and patriotically by supporting the President.
“‘I believe the crooked ascension of Trump to the Oval Office is a gauge that measures the declining patriotic and moral values of the many citizens of America,’” Fudge continued.
What an absolute embarrassment to the institution this woman represents.
Sparks Fly Afterward
Though Fudge was allowed to finish her little stunt, other members didn’t appreciate it, including one Democrat who chastised her for using the letter as a means to convey her own personal insults toward Trump supporters.
“Remarks and debate may not engage in personalities toward the president, including by repeating remarks made elsewhere that would be improper if spoken in the member’s own words,” Rep. Marc Veasey (D-TX) said in reprimand.
Veasey was presiding over proceedings.
“What is a ‘personality?’” Fudge shot back.
Rep. Larry Buschon (R-IN) had approached the microphone for his turn to speak, pointing out that the Ohio Democrat was interrupting his time.
“Are we in order here, or what are we doing?” Bucshon said. He then fired back at Fudge who continued talking over him, “You’re out of order.”
Ohio Republican Party Chair Jane Timken released a statement saying he “hope[d] that this was a lapse in judgment from Rep. Fudge” and adding the stunt shows the resistance party “care more about playing identity politics than they do about winning back blue-dog Democrats who overwhelmingly supported the president.”
Her career has been a “lapse in judgment” by the people in that district of Ohio.
Fudge’s Own Ignorance
It wasn’t all that long ago that Fudge was toying with the idea of challenging Nancy Pelosi for Speaker of the House.
That was, until Lance Mason, a friend of Fudge, was arrested in 2018 on suspicion of murder in connection with his ex-wife, Aisha Fraser’s death. Mason was accused of fatally stabbing Fraser.
He was already a convicted felon, because in 2014 Mason beat his wife in front of their young children, slamming her head against the dashboard of their car so severely that she required facial reconstructive surgery.
Fudge inexplicably wrote a letter of strong support prior to his sentencing, explaining her view of the violent man that had been shaped by over twenty years of friendship.
“The Lance T. Mason that I know is a kind, intelligent man and loyal friend,” she wrote in his defense. “Lance Mason is a good man who made a very bad mistake.”
Guess Fudge is a little dumb and ignorant as well.
