Imagine that: A witch hunt with real witches!
According to a Facebook Events page, a ritual to hex Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh is planned for Oct. 20 between the hours of 7 and 10 p.m. The location given is a street address in Brooklyn.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Please join us for a public hex on Brett Kavanaugh, upon all rapists and the patriarchy at large which emboldens, rewards and protects them. We are embracing witchcraft’s true roots as the magik [sic] of the poor, the downtrodden and disenfranchised and it’s history as often the only weapon, the only means of exacting justice available to those of us who have been wronged by men just like him.
He will be the focal point, but by no means the only target, so bring your rage and and all of the axes you’ve got to grind. There will also be a second ritual afterward — “The Rites of the Scorned One” which seeks to validate, affirm, uphold and support those of us who have been wronged and who refuse to be silent any longer.
The page contains a link to Eventbrite, where your buy your tickets, which will set you back $10, plus an unexplained $2.24 “fee.” How capitalist of them!
Back at the Facebook page, we learn that 50% of the event proceeds will be donated to charity. Of that, half will go to the Ali Forney Center, which is the largest LGBT community center in the U.S. dedicated to helping LGBT homeless youth, the other half % to Planned Parenthood.
So far, 984 witches are planning to attend, with another 10,000 interested. Some may end up disappointed since, according to Evenbrite, the ritual is sold out. Maybe someone can conjure up more tickets?
Somehow the whole thing would have been far more dramatic if it were held at the stroke of midnight on Halloween. What the nation clearly needs is more imaginative witches.
