According to Raw Story, “Samantha Bee shredded Ivanka Trump … in her opening monologue this week,” suggesting the author of the piece, Travis Gettys, approves of Bee’s four-letter word choice.
What set Bee off, as it has so many other liberals, is a tender photo of Ivanka snuggling with her 2-year-old son Theodore tweeted this week. The problem, according to the Left, is the cruelty of the president’s daughter flouting her loving relationship with her child at a time when “migrant families” are being “torn apart on her father’s orders.”
Even if their characterization of Ivanka as Marie Antoinette were accurate, this attempt to turn a first family photo into something toxic and obscene is idiotic. On top of which the description is not accurate. The New York Times’s Amy Harmon writes, the migrant children currently being placed with sponsors in the U.S. were not torn from their parents. On the contrary, they “arrived alone at the Southwest border — without their parents. Most of them are from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala, and were fleeing drug cartels, gang violence and domestic abuse, according to government data.”

Nor is the Trump administration “changing the rules that pertain to separating an adult from the child.” According to the National Review’s Rich Lowry:
Those remain the same. Separation happens only if officials find that the adult is falsely claiming to be the child’s parent, or is a threat to the child, or is put into criminal proceedings.

Bee is able to get away with such crass profanity because the network her show is on, TBS, has low standards. The only remaining question is whether they are so low that the network will permit this “liberated” woman to remain in its employ.
