NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo participated in anti-gun die-in yesterday: just one problem

School-age children were not the only ones who played hookie yesterday to show they are mad as hell about gun violence and aren’t going to take it anymore. A few liberal pols took time out from their jobs to show that grown-ups can be just as mindless as their youthful brethren.

One who did was liberal Democrat Andrew Cuomo, who joined students in a die-in Wednesday in support of gun control. The event took place appropriately enough in New York’s Zuccotti Park, which you may recall was the home away from home for the so-called “Occupiers” back during Barack Obama’s first term as president.

If there was one thing that set the governor apart from the other protesters it that was the sheer hypocrisy he showed by arriving at the park in the company of an armed security detail.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

At least one individual on Twitter noticed the burly man shadowing Cuomo in the picture above.

Cuomo wasn’t the only politician to show up with armed guards. As noted in LU’s Web Crawler:

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders joined students in DC marching on the U.S. capitol.

So did his armed guards.

[…]

Sanders began a live stream of his speech on his Facebook page, which featured him wading through the crowd of cheering students and shaking hands. As Sanders traveled through the gun-control crowd, at least three heavily armed Capitol police officers could be seen protecting him and clearing a way for the Senator through the students. Multiple times in the live feed, the police can be heard asking the students to step back and move away from Sanders.
