“Three Days After Meeting With Florida Shooting Victims, Trump is Golfing.” So reads the headline of a post by Mediate’s Rachel Dicker that begins snarkily:
There’s nothing that says “I care about this nation and our barbaric epidemic of gun violence” than hitting the links.
That’s right: President Donald Trump, days after meeting with survivors of the deadly school shooting in Parkland, FL that killed 17 people, is on the golf course in West Palm Beach as of 9 a.m. this morning.
In a stunning act of compassion, Trump neglected to visit the course over the weekend, aides said, out of respect for the victims and their families.
I don’t know how old Rachel Dicker is. Judging from the snapshot accompanying her Twitter bio, she looks to be in her early to mid twenties. That makes her a little too old to be unaware of Barack Obama’s vastly more unconscionable behavior in the summer of 2014.
Around noon on Aug. 20, Obama, who was vacationing with his family in Martha’s Vineyard, appeared on TV to hold a brief press conference on the barbaric and senseless murder of American journalist James Wright Foley at the hands of ISIS butchers.
Within ten minutes of the presser’s conclusion, Obama was out on the links at Vineyard Golf Club, club in hand. Three days before heading out to the golf course? In Obama years that’s an eternity.
