Poor mainstream media! They have waited and waited. A whole year of the Trump presidency has elapsed, and so far Donald Trump has yet to mispronounce corpsman or speak of a putative Mexican holiday named Cinco de Cuatro in an embarrassingly exaggerated Spanish accent.
Yes, Trump does stress the middle syllable of the word industry and gave the Left a thrill when he tweeted out the enigmatic word covfefe, but he hasn’t yet publicly regretted that he doesn’t speak Austrian.
Unlike Barack “Gaffe-a-Day” Obama, Trump has been a disappointment for network anchors hoping to take a dig at him for saying or doing something stupid — like saluting with his left hand because he’s got a latte in his right.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
If conservatives were relentless in calling Obama out for foibles, it’s because of the misplaced reverence the Left heaped on him for his imagined brain power. No one makes the same presumption about Trump — quite the opposite in fact — but this still hasn’t sated liberals’ hunger for “Trumpisms.”
So we get this from CBS News anchor Anthony Mason via NewsBusters:
President Trump today gave an account of his Asia trip that appeared for a time might run as long as the 12-day journey itself. His mouth got so dry he had to stop and search for a bottle of water to quench his thirst. A few minutes later, it happened again.
Wait, that’s it?! Well, not exactly. Mason goes on:
You’ll recall Mr. Trump on the campaign trail mocked then-rival Marco Rubio for taking a water break as he delivered the GOP response to a state of the union address. Within moments today, Senator Rubio pounced with this review of the President: ‘Needs work on his form has to be done in one single motion, and eyes should never leave the camera, but not bad for his first time.’ Tweet revenge.
Zing!
