From ‘collusion’ to ‘obstruction’ to ‘Emoluments’: Dems’ crusade to dump Trump

Do you recall the constant chatter from the Left over Republican efforts to repeal the monstrous Affordable Care Act. How obsessed were Democrats, the mainstream media, and then-President Barack Obama with the Right’s audacity in seeking ways to kill a law that wasn’t popular and, more important, wasn’t working? So much so, that in March 2014 The Washington Post published a column by Ed O’Keefe devoted to the 54 times repeal efforts that up to that point had failed. Never mind that Congress was attempting to accommodate the will of the American people, who wanted Obamacare dead and buried. The Dems were livid.

So how are the donks faring now that they are possessed by their own obsession: looking for a way — some way — to evict Donald Trump from the Oval Office. Appearing as a member of the panel of experts on Fox News’s Special Report, Tom Bevan of Real Clear Politics had perhaps the most insightful commentary on the flurry of investigations, innuendo, accusations, and attacks being leveled at the Trump administration these days.

Each day, it seems, the president is being accused of some new heinous crime. Since before the inauguration, the Left has been fixated on the Trump campaign’s collusion with Russia. Now that that avenue has been explored and has led to a dead end, they are trying out new grist for scandals.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

As Bevan explains to Bret Baier in the video that follows, when each new line of attack proves fruitless, the Democrats simply use the media to move to another. (A transcript of the dialog appears below the clip.)

Bret Baier: Is there a chance that Capitol Hill moves on [from the Russia investigation]? When does the onus shift? I’ve asked this a couple times to different panels and different people… Does it ever shift to there being a there, there? Otherwise we all need to move on.

Tom Bevan: I don’t think so.

Baier: [Special investigator] Bob Mueller?

Bevan: Well look, theoretically in a perfect world, Bob Mueller will come out with a decision that… moves forward the investigation. And that would be sort of the decisive moment.

But I do think we have seen the Democrats … because the base of their party … do not believe that Trump is the legitimate president, and they want to see him removed by any means necessary. So there was initially collusion, then we are moving to obstruction, and now we’re moving to Democratic Attorneys General of states suing on the Emoluments clause, next they are going to go after his business dealings.

So even if Bob Mueller comes out with a decisive opinion one way or the other, this is going to carry on.

Bevan is 100% correct, and it’s something that I brought up last week. It doesn’t matter if Trump is completely vindicated of every crime or complaint he’s ever been accused of. The Democrats and their allies in the media will continue their quest to find something to bludgeon the administration with. If, as is ultimately likely, they run out of “crimes,” they’ll invent one of their own.
