Barack Obama’s is far and away America’s most beloved president … by Barack Obama. During his 8 years in office, Obama has missed no opportunity to plaster an image of his own kisser on celebrations, commemorations, memorials — you name it.
When “Star Trek” actor Leonard Nimoy died, Obama mourned the actor’s passing with a picture of himself and Nichelle Nichols, the lone black actress in the cast, both flashing a Vulcan salute. (It was a tribute to Nimoy, after all.) Nelson Mandela’s death was similarly marked on Twitter by a photo of Obama accompanied by a quote — by Obama.
Now as his presidency fades into the twilight, his better half has demonstrated that she is every bit as crass and egotistical as he is. On Saturday, Mrs. Obama celebrated the first birthday of Bei Bei, a panda born at the National Zoo.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
If you want to know what the birthday boy looks like at age 1, you’ll have to shop elsewhere. The picture contained in Obama’s tweet is of her.
Today we celebrate the @NationalZoo‘s “precious treasure” as he turns one year old. Happy birthday, Bei Bei! -mo pic.twitter.com/DqpXhqG9rt
