#DoYourJob: Obama tweets out reprimand to Senate Republicans before braving elements to do this

Here, to start off another work week, are some brainy Barack Obama quotes. (Note: The adjective brainy is not mine. These quotes were gathered by a website called “Brainy Quotes.”)

— Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.

— If you’re walking down the right path and you’re willing to keep walking, eventually you’ll make progress.

— If the people cannot trust their government to do the job for which it exists — to protect them and to promote their common welfare — all else is lost.

All told, there are about two dozen of these, but thanks to the president’s having his own Twitter account, you can add to the collection the quotable quote within this message sent out last Friday:

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

I think this quote actually captures Obama, the man, better than any of the other quotes because it reveals his propensity for chiding Republicans, which he’s been doing since before his first election to the White House. In this case, he’s berating Senate Republicans for not holding hearings on his eleventh-hour Supreme Court nominee, Merrick Garland.

As if to underscore the message about dedication to one’s job, Obama headed out the following day, undaunted by rain and fog to complete his appointed rounds. Make that “round”:

For the record, this is round #282.

What a guy!
