Lone GOP congressman to receive money from Planned Parenthood calls for investigation

Rep. Richard Hanna, the lone Republican in Congress to receive campaign contributions from Planned Parenthood, is calling for an investigation into the organization.  The decision comes on the heels of a third undercover video which shows an official at the abortion mill standing over aborted baby body parts and negotiating prices for maximum value.

Via Syracuse.com:

U.S. Rep. Richard Hanna, the only House Republican to consistently support Planned Parenthood, on Wednesday joined those calling for Congress and the Justice Department to investigate the group.

Hanna, R-Barneveld, said he is alarmed by undercover videos from abortion opponents that claim to show a Planned Parenthood official discussing the potential sale of fetal tissue from abortions.

[…]

“I strongly support women’s health care, however, the videos released regarding Planned Parenthood are extremely disturbing and alarming,” Hanna said in a statement Wednesday. “I do not support or in any way condone the callous tone and detached emotional nature of these videos.”

Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney (R) told MenRec that Hanna’s condemnation was similar to Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards, apologizing for the ‘tone’ rather than the act.

“He only objects to tone, and not criminal, horrific practice?” she asked.

Still, Hanna stated that “I fully support a congressional investigation to determine if any laws were broken or standards of medical care were violated.”

Such a call for investigation is surprising, as we’ve reported that Hanna’s track record is decidedly in sync with pro-choice groups.  He voted to force pro-life or religious organizations to pay for abortions for their employees, was the lone Republican to oppose banning federal payments for abortion, and told members of a pro-abortion rally to give their money to Democrats.

Additionally, Hanna is the lone Republican in any state, of either house in Congress, to receive funding from the abortion mill for his campaign.

Is this a turning point for Hanna in the abortion argument?

In light of the recent videos, it should be noted that the sale of human organs, including fetal human organs, is a felony in the United States.  Let’s hope a Congressional inquiry brings these criminal actions to light.
