In the profiling-free, pro-SAFE Act utopia of New York City, shootings in some areas have risen over 45%, while the number of victims in other locations have practically doubled.

Murders are way up so far this year in Manhattan, The Post has learned.
Sixteen people were killed around the borough between the first of the year and Sunday. Over the same period last year, the figure was 11. That’s an increase of about 45 percent.
Shootings in the borough have also soared.
There have been 50 “shooting incidents’’ since Jan. 1, compared with 31 in the same time period in 2014 — an increase of about 38 percent. Some of these “incidents’’ involved more than one victim.
The number of shooting victims nearly doubled, from 33 to 61.
Several factors were cited by a law enforcement official, though one reason was the drop off in “stop-and-frisk” proactive policing.
Back in August, an NYPD supervisor in Brooklyn said there is a definite and direct link between the increase in shootings and the dramatic drop off in stopping criminals. “Guys know they’re not going to get stopped, so they’re packing [guns] more now,” he said.
Police union President Ed Mullins concurred, placing the blame on soft leadership under Mayor Bill de Blasio. Mullins said that police are being handcuffed by the previous year’s federal court ruling against “stop and frisk,” which makes it significantly easier for criminals to sue police officers over perceived racial profiling. The atmosphere is, “‘We’re going to do what we want,’ that ‘We’re going to get away with it,’” said Mullins.
Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin tweeted his displeasure with the SAFE Act, asking why the gun control law, which was passed through in the middle of the night via a message of necessity, hasn’t actually reduced the number of gun crimes.

After Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the SAFE Act into law, former State Senator Ted O’Brien (D) claimed it would “combat gun violence and help prevent future loss of innocent lives.”
Has it?
If liberal policies are taking hold in an overwhelmingly liberal area such as New York City, then there is little reason not to expect gun crimes to go down. Unless, of course, they don’t work.
