Graphic: Odd college word obsessions

Some of the word obsessions here are kind of evocative and mysterious.

At Alabama, for example, they really like searching on “maelstrom.”  Go figure.  And no Nick Saban jokes.  (Definitely no Lane Kiffin jokes.  Who has the time?)

Dictionary.com has put together a graphic showing the top word search at each of 25 universities across the country.  Boise State’s, you will probably be startled to learn, is “cauliflower.”

I, personally, am a fan of the word-search champ at the University of Wyoming: “gag.”

Our own Howard Portnoy’s alma mater, NYU, made the cut for this graphic too.  Its secret word passion, appropriately enough, is “courtesy.”
