Read it and weep. A newly released memo from the Department of Homeland Security with the subject line “Policies for the Apprehension, Detention, and Removal of Undocumented Immigrants” provides some of the specifics in the president’s new executive amnesty. These include three levels of “Civil Immigration Enforcement Priorities.” Level 1 offenders include those who pose a threat to national security, border security, and public safety — in other words, terrorists.
That’s the good news. The not-so-good news is who is included among the Level 2 offenders. To wit: convicted drunk drivers, sex abusers, drug dealers, and gun offenders. As Byron York grimly notes in the Washington Examiner, “An illegal immigrant could spend up to a year in prison for a violent crime and still not be a top removal priority for the Obama administration.”
More bad news associated with Obama’s latest power grab from the employment front. As the nation records its highest poverty numbers in 50 years, the president’s executive action promises more competition for jobs by 5 million people in the country illegally.
